Hi John and Mary....I look forward to welcoming you 'ben the hoose' on your visit to Scotland in September and glad to see you have been doing some extensive homework prior to your arrival. Now your queries.
Q1. I am attending to more pressing concerns on the Planet than Scottish Independence; I look at it from the perspective of the Moon and see no borders.ipso facto; we are all Scottish!!!.
Q2.Pros and Cons of the Kirk! I think I have already told you that I am no more christian than Christ is! And if the institutions in His Name put half as much energy into living His Life as protecting their demarcation lines.... consider where we might be!!!
Q3.As a Lifetime Associate Member of the Iona Community, I cannot recommend it highly enough and do my best to live by its tenets. I see that it is a "Gathering Place" week and I would see it is my privilege and pleasure to drive you there and back Sat.3rd.-Wed.7th if there are still bookings available.... and you pay all my out of pocket expenses. That's not the Scot in me, btw....just the skint OAP!!! But do decide soon as it is a very popular venue and you would be able to walk the Tuesday Pilgrimage.You could spend Fri.2nd in Edinburgh, and stay with me o/n both ends of your Iona trip and I would take you to the airport on 8th.....and tearfully bid you a... "Here's tae ye...Wha's like ye....Damn few and they're a' deid!"....fond Farewell! Howzat!
